Előadásának címe: Who determines the final version? The roles of translators, language revisers and editors in the publishing of a literary translation in a minor language.

Marija Zlatnar-Moe will speak about what it means to be working as a literary translator in a small language community, the challenges of a small market, a handful of publishers, the specific problems of working with languages everyone (thinks) they can speak versus working with smaller/peripheral languages that no-one but the translator has any idea about. These differences influence all parts of translators’ work, including their role in the translation process, working conditions, status, deadlines and pay.
